Frequently Asked Concrete Services Questions

Got Questions? We've Got Answers

Yes! Virtue Concrete does offer third-party financing options tailored to your specific qualification criteria. To learn more, please call to schedule a Free Estimate Appointment!

Yes! Concrete is known for it’s durability and low maintenance requirements, especially when compared to alternatives.

That said, maintenance is required to maximize the life of your concrete and preserve it’s appearance. Concrete maintenance includes cleaning, sealing/re-sealing, repairing cracks, and preventing water damage. If you have any concerns about your concrete structure, or required maintenance, you may want to consider having it inspected before more costly repairs become necessary.

*Virtue Concrete SC does not perform minor repairs or inspections for minor repairs. Our method of “repairing” concrete is to replace the structure in full, or in sections (if applicable).*

Residential Concrete Services are typically pretty similar in terms of process and timeline, with a few exceptions.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what to expect, and a little advice, when adding concrete around your home:

Step 1 – Locate Underground Utilities

For any project that requires digging into the ground, you’ll need to know exactly where utility lines are buried on your property.

SC811 makes this process easy! Get started by calling 811 or submitting a Request to Locate form on their website!

Step 2 – Get Quotes

Shop around for quotes, investigate service quality, and decide which characteristics you feel are most important for your concrete contractor to have.

The most accurate quotes typically require an in-person estimate, so that the contractor can assess the property, gather dimensions, and discuss fine details. In some cases, plans may be required.

Step 3 – Choose a Contractor

Concrete projects are relatively costly, and difficult to fix in some cases. Make sure that you have a reliable, responsive, and experienced concrete professional that will maintain accountability for their work. Ideally, you want your concrete done right the first time, and most concrete contractors feel the same way! That said – accidents happen, and if things do go wrong you’ll be better off with a contractor that isn’t afraid to face their mistakes head-on.

Step 4 – Scheduling

Once you’ve committed to a contractor, you’ll need to set a date for the preparation and pour of your concrete project. Most residential projects can be prepped and poured on the same day, but some may require 1-2 additional days of scheduling.

Step 5 – Construction

The exact construction process for concrete projects varies dramatically, but generally follows these steps:

  1. Demolition (if replacing)
  2. Grade & Prep
  3. Lay Formwork
  4. Pour Concrete
  5. Finish Surface
  6. Clean-up & Backfill

Exact details of concrete construction depend on the scope and specifications of the individual project.

Step 6 – Curing

Once the finishing process is completed, your project will need sufficient time to cure to protect the finish, and structural integrity. We recommend that our customers follow these guidelines:

  • Zero Traffic for 24 Hours
  • No Vehicle Traffic for 5 – 8 Days
  • Limit Vehicle Traffic for 28 – 30 Days for optimal results

Step 7 – Reflect on Your Service

After your project is complete, reflect on your experience and share it on social media and search engines!

Hope this helps! If you’re in need of concrete services for a driveway, patio, concrete slab, concrete pad, walkway, retaining wall, or other concrete structure for your residential property – give us a call!

The short answer – no. At least, not in terms of construction.

Every season has it’s challenges when it comes to pouring concrete.

A seasoned contractor (pun intended) knows how to plan ahead, shows up prepared with the right materials, and will inform you promptly if scheduling changes are necessary to protect your concrete project against the elements.

However, customers often see slightly better timelines and pricing in the colder months of the year due a decrease in overall demand for concrete services.
